Indian Government Systems: Critical PII Exposure and AI-Driven Remediation Shift
Indian government digital infrastructure is suffering from systemic PII exposure driven by widespread cloud storage misconfigurations—specifically unsecured buckets and databases—and exposed API endpoints. These vulnerabilities have resulted in the mass leak of sensitive datasets, including Aadhaar, biometric, and financial records. To counter these risks and the rise of AI-driven exploitation by state-sponsored and criminal actors, CERT-In is deploying "machine-speed risk operations" and AI vulnerability blueprints. This strategic shift aims to automate the detection-to-remediation pipeline, reducing the window of exposure and addressing the surge in high-impact attacks documented in the 2025 India Cyber Threat Report.
