Geopolitical tensions and conflicts drove significant changes to the threat landscape in 2023, characterized by a blend of Cold War-style espionage and ideology-driven hacktivism. This period saw an evolution of inexperienced hacktivists into sophisticated threat actors, many of whom transitioned toward financially motivated "hacking-as-a-service" models, particularly within the Russian-speaking landscape.
