Abstract

CISA and federal partners have released comprehensive guidance on adapting Zero Trust principles to Operational Technology (OT) environments and establishing principles for the secure integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within industrial systems. This guidance acknowledges that standard IT security controls can be dangerous in OT settings, where safety-critical operations require continuous availability, and warns that AI—particularly Large Language Models—should not be used autonomously for safety decisions.
