Abstract

Given the importance of technical standards in shaping development and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) worked closely with the private and public sectors to develop this plan for global engagement to promote and develop AI standards. The goal of this plan is to drive the development and implementation of AI-related consensus standards, cooperation and coordination, and information sharing in order to promote innovation and cultivate trust in the design, development, use and governance of AI technologies and systems.
