SonicWall SonicOS SSL-VPN MFA Bypass CVE-2026-19868

Published November 8, 2026

CISA added CVE-2026-19868 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on November 6, setting a November 20 remediation deadline. The vulnerability in SonicWall SonicOS SSL-VPN permits attackers possessing valid stolen credentials to bypass SAML-enforced multi-factor authentication entirely. SonicWall released a patch for Gen 8 devices via advisory SNWLID-2026-0014, but Gen 6 devices are end-of-life and will not be fixed. Active exploitation has been confirmed, leaving unpatched Gen 6 SSL-VPN endpoints permanently exposed and requiring immediate isolation or replacement.

  • Vulnerability Overview: CVE-2026-19868

    • CISA KEV catalog addition confirmed on November 6.
    • NIST NVD assigns CVSS 7.5 base score.
    • Affects SonicWall SonicOS SSL-VPN authentication enforcement.
    • Tracked under vendor advisory SNWLID-2026-0014.
  • Technical Mechanics: SAML MFA Bypass

    • Valid stolen credentials are sufficient to initiate authentication.
    • Flaw circumvents SAML-enforced MFA validation on SSL-VPN.
    • Attacker gains authenticated access without second-factor challenge.
    • No complex exploit chain; credential theft is the primary vector.
  • Exploitation Status: Active in the Wild

    • Aviatrix AI Threat Research Center documented active exploitation.
    • DataWater Threat Intelligence verified SAML/MFA bypass mechanics.
    • SecurityAffairs confirmed KEV listing and CVSS rating.
    • Unpatched endpoints are immediate high-value targets for adversaries.
  • Remediation & Mitigation: Generation Divide

    • Gen 8 devices received a patch on November 6.
    • Gen 6 devices are end-of-life with no fix planned.
    • CISA requires remediation by November 20 for federal systems.
    • Isolate or replace stranded Gen 6 SSL-VPN appliances immediately.
  • Detection & Compensating Controls

    • Monitor SSL-VPN authentication logs for MFA skip events.
    • Restrict SSL-VPN access to known management IP ranges.
    • Deploy network segmentation to limit lateral movement from VPN.
    • Prioritize hardware replacement for all Gen 6 edge devices.
